KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Marian University softball team split a pair of games on Tuesday against Waldorf College (Iowa) and Missouri Baptist University in Kissimmee, Fla. The Knights' record is now 3-1 on the season.

Senior Angie Such (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg), sophomore Kelsey Uebelhor (St. Anthony, Ind./Forest Park), and Slayton and Bell all singled in the second giving Slayton two RBI and another to Bell on the contest. Freshman Helen Rogers (Avon, Ind./Avon) walked and reached second on a passed ball before junior Mallory Ortwein (Anderson, Ind./Anderson) hit a two-run single to score Rogers and Bell.
Waldorf would score three runs in the third, including a solo homerun.
Slayton would single once again in the third and end up scoring on an RBI-single by Rogers.
Seniors Melissa Coutz (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) and Chelsea Young (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) started things off for the Knights in the fourth. The Waldorf pitcher walked Coutz, who made her way around the bases on two passed balls before scoring off a Young RBI-single to left.
MU would finish the game in the fifth when Coutz drove in Ortwein on a single to left to give the Knights the win in five innings.
Slayton went 3-for-3 with two RBI and Bell finished 3-for-4 with a homerun and three RBI.
The Knights faced Missouri Baptist University in the second contest of the day. Both teams struggled offensively as the Knights dropped a tough 1-0 ballgame.
