Women's Golf Places 5th at Butler Fall Invite

INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian women's golf team had a strong showing at the Butler Fall Invite, as the team placed fifth out of 11 teams. The Knights had two golfers shoot a two-day total of 150, with all seven golfers shooting a lower score on the second day of competition.


Emily Tilton and Sloane Winders each shot a 150 for their two rounds, leading the team while tying for ninth overall in the tournament. Tilton shot a 76 in the first round and followed that with a 74 in round two to get her 150. Winders shot a 77 on Monday before lowering her score by four strokes on Tuesday, as she shot a 73 to earn her 150.

Anna Tucker tied for 22nd after posting a 81+78=159. Taylor Wilson finished the invite with a two day score of 82+78=160 to give her tied for 30th for the two days, while Mira Nicpon rounded out the Knights team with a 82+80=162. Mira Nicpon finished tied for 36th.

Playing as individuals, Alexa Elbert scored a 81+80=161, while Nina Nicpon had a two-day score of 84+81=165. Elbert finished tied for 32nd and Nicpon was 42nd.

Tilton was the top golfer in the tournament on par-3 holes, as she finished the two rounds as the only player under par. Tucker was tied for sixth with six birdies in the invitational, Winders and Wilson each had three. Tilton parred 24 holes, while Winders broke even on 23.
