Marian Extends Win Streak to Eight With Win at Grace

WINONA LAKE, Ind. - The Marian women's soccer team extended it's winning streak to eight games with a 2-1 Crossroads League victory at Grace Wednesday night in Winona Lake, Indiana. The Knights are 9-2 with the win.

All three goals were scored within an eight minute span in the first half and it was the Knights who struck first. In the 31st minute, Siera Stuart scored unassisted to put the visitors ahead. However, Grace found a quick answer in the 34th minute to tie the match at one apiece. The tie wouldn't last long though, as Marian found the eventual game-winner in the 38th minute with a Kellie Cavanaugh goal.

Cavanaugh led Marian with four shots and two were on goal. Maria Farmer took three and Chloe Ulmer fired two. Catherine Schmidt was an integral part of the win in the net, facing 14 shots and making seven saves.

The Lancers outshot Marian 14-11 and held a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks, but it was not enough to put a tally in the loss column for Marian.

Marian will host Mount Vernon Nazarene Saturday at 7 p.m. at St. Vincent Field. Your online source for Marian Athletics, tickets, multimedia, Knight merchandise, photos and more.
