second straight match after the Knights downed Olivet Nazarene, 6-3, in
Bourbonnais, Ill., on Thursday afternoon.
Freshman
Paola Usina (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral) continued her
winnings ways as she won at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-1. Freshman
Tiffany
Schendel (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) won her match at No. 3 singles
and won in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4). However, the duo could not overcome
a strong ONU team at No. 1 doubles in a 2-8 defeat.
Junior
Dana Reynolds (Lebanon, Ind./Lebanon) notched a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles, while sophomore
Alyson O'Conner (Lebanon, Ind./Lebanon) tallied 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles. The duo also fell at No. 2 doubles, 3-8.
Sophomore
Maria Berry (Madison, Ind./Shawe Memorial) fell in three sets at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 3-6, 4-6, but teamed with freshman
Amy Nocton (Williamsburg, Ind./Northeastern) for an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
Junior
Alyssa Richard (Madison, Ind./Shawe Memorial) posted a straight sets victory at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-0, to round out th 6-3 victory for the Knights.
It is the first time in the last three years that the Knights have defeated a nationally-ranked opponent.
The Knights head to the DePauw Invitational on Saturday and Sunday in Greencastle, Ind.
