INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian University women's tennis team played host to MCC foe Grace College in conference action on Tuesday afternoon and pulled out a 5-4 victory at the Marian University Tennis Courts.

The win was the team's third straight and brings its record to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in MCC play.

The Knights fell behind, 2-1, after the three doubles matches, but responded with four wins in six singles matches to pull the come-from-behind win.

Junior Dana Reynolds (Lebanon, Ind./Lebanon) and sophomore Alyson O'Conner (Lebanon, Ind./Lebanon) earned an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles for the lone doubles win.

Freshman Paola Usina (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral) was the first to pull a singles win after a straight-set victory at No. 1 singles. She won 6-0 in the first set and cruised to a 6-2 win in the second set to even the team score, 2-2.

O'Conner gave the Knights the lead after a straight-set victory at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-1, to put the Knights in front, 3-2. Freshman Tiffany Schendel (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) brought the Knights one win closer to victory as she earned a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-4.

Reynolds secured the victory at No. 2 singles as she earned a straight-set victory, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4). The win gave the Knights a 5-2 lead and secured the win.

Junior Alyssa Richard (Madison, Ind./Shawe Memorial) nearly pulled off the Knights' sixth win, but fell in three sets, 7-6 (7-3), 6-7 (2-7), 3-6, at No. 6 singles. Sophomore Maria Berry (Madison, Ind./Shawe Memorial) was also dropped her match in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 4-6, at No. 4 singles to make the final score, 5-4.

Usina and Schendel feel at No. 1 doubles, 4-8, while Berry and freshman Amy Nocton (Williamsburg, Ind./Northeastern) fell at No. 3 doubles, 3-8.

The Knights head to Anderson, Ind., on Thursday to take on Anderson University at 3 p.m.
