FINAL STATS

INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian University volleyball team battled the No. 19-ranked Taylor University Trojans on Wednesday night at the Physical Education Center.

The Knights picked up a first set victory, but the Trojans controlled the rest of the match to pick up the 13-25, 25-8, 25-21, 25-13 victory. The Knights fell to 6-4 overall and 0-1 in MCC play.

After jumping out to a huge 21-9 advantage in the first set, the Knights controlled the set and earned the 25-13 win.

However, Taylor jumped out to a 12-1 lead in set two, and the Trojans were able to hold serve for the majority of the second set in earning a 25-8 victory.

The Trojans took the lead in the third set with a 25-21 win, and never looked back as they cruised in the fourth and final set, 25-13.

Junior Sadie Dizney (Speedway, Ind./Speedway) and senior Rachel Klene (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) led the Knights attack with 12 kills each. Freshman Holly Wasmund (Avon, Ind./Avon) tallied 27 assists for the Knights, while sophomore Brittany Miller (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central) notched 16 digs in defense. Dizney and junior Carrie Sherman (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) each had two blocks in defense.

The Knights head to Grace College for a conference match on Sept. 16, in Winona Lake, Ind. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
