PATASKALA, Ohio - The Marian University men's golf team used a new 54-hole school record to earn the title at the ODU/Otterbein Kisor Classic at Cumberland Trail Golf Course in Pataskala, Ohio on Friday and Saturday.
The Knights notched a 54-hole team score of 873 (296-288-289) to shatter the school record of 885 set in 2002. The team also had the lowest team score in each of the three rounds to earn the win.
Sophomore
Sean Jones (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) nearly set a new school record after he finished in a tie for second place with a 215 (72-72-71). He was just three strokes off of tying the school record set by Stephen Ford in 2006.
Freshman
Preston Smith (Anderson, Ind./Anderson) finished in fourth place after he carded a 219 (72-72-75), while freshman
Trey Pfund (Clarksville, Ind./Our Lady of Providence) carded a 221 (77-73-71) for a sixth-place finish.
Senior
Luke Weber (North Vernon, Ind./Jennings County) earned a tie for 10th place after he shot a 225 (76-77-72), while freshman
Robbi Koors (Greensburg, Ind./Greensburg) shot a 226 (76-71-79) to finish tied for 14th place.
The Knights' B team will head to Meshingomesia Country Club in Marion, Ind., for the Wildcat Fall Invitational hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University. The 36-hole tournament is slated for Monday and Tuesday.
