ANDERSON, Ind. - The Marian University women's volleyball team made it three straight win after the Knights defeated Anderson University and Franklin College at the Anderson Tri-match on Saturday.
The Knights opened the tri-match with a win over Franklin College in three sets, 25-14, 25-9, 25-9, and defeated Anderson in the four-set nightcap, 25-17, 19-25, 25-20, 25-15.
The Knights utilized a whole team effort in the match against the Grizzlies as they cruised. Junior
Sadie Dizney (Speedway, Ind./Speedway) led a balanced attack with 10 kills while senior
Rachel Klene (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) added eight kills and junior
Danielle Perry (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) had seven kills in nine attacks.
Freshman
Holly Wasmund (Avon, Ind./Avon) led the way in passing as she tallied 26 assists, while sophomore
Brittany Miller (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central) had a team-high 10 digs. Freshman
Jaymee Schambers (Cambridge City, Ind./Lincoln) added nine digs, while Dizney and Klene each had two blocks in defense.
Sophomore
Kelsee Evans (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) tallied five service aces as the team notched 13 aces in the match.
In the day's second match, freshman
Ashley Francis (Avon, Ind./Avon) led the way in attack with 17 kills. Dizney added 11 kills, while Wasmund and sophomore
Mollie Heidenreich (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) notched 23 and 12 assists, respectively.
Miller had a game-high 33 digs while Dizney added 19 and seniors
Ashley Hanslits (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) and
Katy Smith (Clayton, Ind./Cascade) each added 14 digs. Dizney also had three service aces in the win.
The Knights have won three straight matches and are now 9-4 on the season.
The team travels to Huntington University for a Mid-Central College Conference showdown against the Foresters on Wednesday. The match is slated for 7 p.m.
