HANOVER, Ind. - The Marian University women's tennis team traveled to Hanover College on Tuesday afternoon and won its seventh straight match, 7-2.
Sophomore
Maria Berry (Madison, Ind./Shawe Memorial) and freshman
Tiffany Schendel (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) swept through their matches at No. 3 singles and No. 2 singles, respectively, and earned an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles. Berry won her singles match, 6-4, 6-3, while Schendel was a 7-5, 6-2 victor.
Sophomore
Alyson O'Conner (Lebanon, Ind./Lebanon) and freshman
Casey DeLucenay (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) each won her singles match in straight sets. O'Conner won at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-2, while DeLucenay won at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-3.
O'Conner teamed with junior
Dana Reynolds (Lebanon, Ind./Lebanon) for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles, but Reynolds was not as successful at No. 1 singles as she lost, 4-6, 6-7 (6-8).
DeLucenay and junior
Alyssa Richard (Madison, Ind./Shawe Memorial) teamed at No. 3 doubles for an 8-4 win, but Richard fell at No. 5 singles in a three-set match, 7-5, 2-6, 7-10.
The Knights are now 8-1 on the season and play host to Taylor University in a key Mid-Central College Conference showdown on Thursday afternoon at the Marian University Tennis Courts. First serve is slated for 1 p.m.
