GOSHEN, Ind. - The Marian University men's tennis team responded after its defeat to Taylor University during the week with a 7-2 victory over Goshen College on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights took a 2-1 lead after doubles action as freshman
Andrew Voss (West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette) and junior
Brad Mustin (Lebanon, Ind./Lebanon) won at No. 2 doubles, 8-1, and seniors
Jeff Graf (Sunman, Ind./East Central) and
Joe Nelson (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral) won at No. 3 doubles, 8-6. Junior
Brice Fairchild (New Castle, Ind./Tri) and freshman
Will Dixon (Jeffersonville, Ind./Our Lady of Providence) fell at No. 1 doubles, 1-8.
The Knights took five out of the six singles matches to earn the 7-2 victory.
Fairchild picked up the win at No. 1 singles in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, while Voss won at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Mustin earned the victory at No. 3 singles in three sets, 6-2, 0-6, 6-2.
Dixon won his match at No. 4 singles in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, while freshman
Kyle Luckiewicz (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) won at No. 6 singles, 7-5, 7-5.
Senior
Stedman Carmony (Arlington, Ind./Greenfield) dropped his match at No. 5 singles, 1-6, 2-6.
The Knights play host to Bethel College on Tuesday afternoon at the Marian University Tennis Courts. First serve is slated for 1 p.m.
