INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian University men's tennis team defeated the Bethel College Pilots on Tuesday afternoon, 9-0, at the Marian University Tennis Courts.
 
After the Knights swept through the doubles matches, they just needed two wins to secure the victory. They got more than they needed as they swept through the Bethel College lineup for the 9-0 win.
 
Junior Brice Fairchild (New Castle, Ind./Tri) teamed with freshman Will Dixon (Jeffersonville, Ind./Our Lady of Providence) earned an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles. Fairchild won his match at No. 1 singles in a third-set tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-5), 1-6, 10-7, while Dixon won his match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 4 singles.
 
Junior Brad Mustin (Lebanon, Ind./Lebanon) and freshman Andrew Voss (West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette) earned an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles. Voss won his match at No. 2 singles in a third-set tiebreaker, 4-6, 7-5, 10-6, while Mustin earned a straight-sets win at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-2.
 
Seniors Jeff Graf (Sunman, Ind./East Central) and Joe Nelson (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral) won their match at No. 3 doubles, 8-3.
 
Senior Stedman Carmony (Arlington, Ind./Greenfield) had to fight to earn the win at No. 5 singles. He dropped the first set quickly, 0-6, but won the second set, 6-4. The third set was a 10-point tiebreaker and Carmony eventually won the tiebreaker, 12-10, to earn the win.
 
Freshman Kyle Luckiewicz (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) won his match at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-4, to complete the shutout.
 
Sophomore Austin Hall (Indianapolis, Ind./Lutheran) won his exhibition match, 8-4, while sophomore Matt Hostetler (Shipshewana, Ind./Westview) and junior Zach Davis (Fairborn, Ohio/Fairborn) won their match in exhibition doubles, 8-6.
 
The Knights improved to 4-5 on the season and 3-3 in Mid-Central College Conference play with one match remaining on the MCC schedule.
 
The team will take on Franklin College at the Marian University Tennis Courts on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
