MARION, Ind. - The Marian University men's tennis team earned a third-place finish at the 2009 Mid-Central College Conference Tournament at Indiana Wesleyan University on Saturday.
The Knights finished with 10 points behind IWU (16) and Taylor University (15).
Junior and No. 5-seeded
Brad Mustin (Lebanon, Ind./Lebanon) was the lone singles finalist for the Knights at No. 3 singles, but he fell, 3-6, 5-7, on Saturday.
The No. 2-seeded tandem of Mustin and freshman
Andrew Voss (West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette) did earn a victory in their first round match over Spring Arbor University, 8-5, which is a correction from the results reported to the MCC on Friday. They also earned a semifinal win over the No. 3-seeded team from Huntington University, 8-5, before falling in the finals to the No. 4-seeded team from Taylor University, 6-8.
For the second consecutive season, junior
Brice Fairchild (New Castle, Ind./Tri) was named All-Conference for a strong season.
The Knights closed the season by winning four of their last five MCC matches and earned a third-place finish in the MCC regular season. They finished 6-6 overall and 4-3 in the MCC.
