WILMORE, Ky. - The Marian University women's volleyball team earned a 3-1 overall record at the 2009 Asbury College Invitational in Wilmore, Ky., this weekend.
 
The Knights opened the tournament with a 25-17, 25-19, 25-20 win over Lindsey Wilson College on Friday before defeating IU-East, 25-23, 25-13, 25-22, to close the first day of action unbeaten.
 
The team opened the final day of the tournament with a 25-23, 25-21, 20-25, 25-22 win over Bryan College before falling to No. 10-ranked Madonna University, 25-16, 23-25, 25-27, 19-25, in the final match of the tournament on Saturday.
 
The Knights have won six of their last seven matches to improve to 18-6 overall this season.
 
Freshman Ashley Francis (Avon, Ind./Avon) led the Knights over the weekend with 46 kills and a .429 attack percentage. She also added a team-high 16 blocks (four solo, 12 assists) in the last four matches.
 
Seniors Rachel Klene (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) and Ashley Hanslits (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) added 34 and 32 kills each, respectively.
 
Freshman Holly Wasmund (Avon, Ind./Avon) had a team-high 101 assists in the four matches, while sophomore Mollie Heidenreich (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) added 61 assists for the Knights.
 
Senior Katy Smith (Clayton, Ind./Cascade) and sophomore Brittany Miller (Indianapolis, Ind./Warren Central) added 74 and 70 digs, respectively, to lead the Knights in defense.
 
The Knights get back on the court on Tuesday when they host Spring Arbor University at the Physical Education Center at 6 p.m.
