MISHAWAKA, Ind. - The Marian University men's basketball team opened the 2009-10 regular season on Friday and Saturday at the Bethel College Classic in Mishawaka, Ind.

The Knights dropped their opener, 73-71, to Holy Cross College on Friday night, but came back on Saturday with an 82-70 win over Judson University to start the season 1-1.

Sophomore Alex Sylvester (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) led the Knights in both games with 22 points on Friday night and 26 points on Saturday afternoon. He shot 50 percent (8-for-16) from the field on Saturday and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.

Junior Jordan Tucker (Kirklin, Ind./Clinton Central) tallied 14 points, six rebounds, and three assists on Saturday, while freshman Matt Dickerson (Evansville, Ind./Mater Dei) and junior Matt Allee (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood) each had 10 points.

Allee had 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds on Friday night, while sophomore Jameson Wheeler (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) added 10 points on Friday night.

The Knights open the home season on Tuesday night when Wabash College comes to the Physical Education Center at 7 p.m. The game will air LIVE on XL 950 AM (WXLW) with Brad Wochomurka (p-b-p) and Director of Athletics Joe Haklin (color) calling all the action at 6:45 p.m. LIVE STATISTICS will also be available at www.muknights.com.
