INDIANAPOLIS - For the second straight season the Mid-Central College Conference Tournament title came down to Marian University and Indiana Wesleyan University at St.Vincent Health Field. And, for the second straight season, the result was the same.

The No. 1-seeded and No. 16-ranked Knights fell to the No. 2-seeded and No. 11-ranked Wildcats, 2-0, to send IWU to the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round next weekend.

The Wildcats controlled the run of play throughout the 90 minutes, but sophomore Jessica Fisher (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) would not led IWU break through for the first 45 minutes as she made six saves on 13 shots in the first half.

However, IWU broke through early in the second frame to take a 1-0 lead and finished off the Knights at the 81:27 mark with their second marker of the match.

Fisher made a career-high 13 saves as IWU out-shot the Knights 29-7 for the match and, also, out-fouled the Knights 14-4 including a 9-1 edge in the first half.

Freshman Samantha Cook (St. John, Ind./Lake Central), sophomore Nikki Schmidt (Avon, Ind./Avon), and sophomore and 2009 MCC Player of the Year Lauren Gerbick (Dyer, Ind./Andrean) each tallied two shots.

The Knights close the season with a 17-2-1 overall record, the most wins in school history, and their second straight MCC regular season title. The Knights defeated IWU early in the season to clinch the No. 1 seed for the MCC Tournament for the second straight year.
