Sophomore Lauren Gerbick was named MCC Player of the Year for 2009.
INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian University women's soccer team had five of its team members named All-Conference, including Player of the Year, as well as MCC Coach of the Year for the second straight season.
 
Head coach Kurt Guldner was named MCC Coach of the Year for the second straight season and for the sixth in his career, four with baseball. He led the Knights to a 17-2-1 overall record and a 7-1 mark in MCC play. The Knights, under his tutelage, also won their second consecutive MCC regular season title and defeated Indiana Wesleyan University for the first time in the program's 11-year history.
 
Sophomore Lauren Gerbick (Dyer, Ind./Andrean) was named MCC Player of the Year after she had a stellar campaign with the Knights. She tallied 14 goals and handed out four assists in 2009, her first season with the Knights. She was also named All-Conference for the first time.
 
Sophomore Nikki Schmidt (Avon, Ind./Avon) was also named All-Conference after serving as the field general in the midfield. Schmidt tallied nine markers on the season, six match-winners, and dished out three assists.
 
Sophomore Ally Higgenbottom (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) earned her first All-Conference honor after she anchored a defense that allowed just four goals in the regular season. Higgenbottom and Knights' defense was responsible for 15 shutouts this season, a school record, and a school-record 17 victories.
 
Sophomore Jessica Fisher (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) was named All-Conference for the first time after she had an amazing season in 2009. She finished the campaign with a 14-2-1 overall record and had 12 shutouts, a school record. She had an all-time, single-season low 0.36 goals-against-average and three of her six goals allowed came in the MCC Tournament. She only allowed three goals in the regular season.
 
Sophomore Katy Toth (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) also earned All-Conference honors for the first time after she had another outstanding season in the blue and gold. She tallied 12 goals and dished out three assists with five of her goals being match-winners.
 
The Knights closed the 2009 season with a 17-2-1 overall record and a 7-1 mark in MCC play. They also earned their second consecutive MCC regular season title and garnered the No. 1 seed for the MCC Tournament.
