HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Marian University men's basketball team fell to 8-10 on the season and 1-7 in Mid-Central College Conference play after a 79-55 defeat on the road to Huntington University on Tuesday night.

Junior Jordan Tucker (Kirklin, Ind./Clinton Central) led the Knights with 18 points, while sophomore Alex Sylvester (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian) added 11 points in the defeat.

The Foresters jumped out to a 7-0 lead and, eventually, pushed the lead to 17-9 with 12:01 to go in the first half. The Knights out-scored HU by a 13-6 margin over the next five minutes to cut the lead to one at 23-22 with 7:13 remaining. But, a 7-0 Foresters run gave them a 30-22 lead with 5:18 remaining in the half. While the Knights trimmed the lead to four with 1:28 to go, the Foresters were able to head into the locker room with a 36-30 advantage at halftime.

The second stanza started nearly the same as the first as the Foresters went on an 8-0 run to open the frame and push the lead to 14 at 44-30 with 17:22 to go. Huntington was able to maintain its lead throughout the next eight minutes before the Knights went on a run.

With the score 61-47 and 9:05 remaining, the Knights went on an 8-0 run to cut the lead to six at 61-54 with 7:13 remaining. Freshman Mac Fiely (Greenville, Ohio/Greenville) hit a long two-pointer to cap the rally, but, unfortunately, the Knights would not hit a field goal for the final seven minutes. They were out-scored 18-1 over the final seven minutes as Huntington cruised to the 79-55 victory.

During that seven-minute span, Knights went 0-of-8 from the field and their only point came on a free throw by Tucker.

Junior Anthony Furlin (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) led the Knights with five rebounds, while junior Brandon Malone (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) finished with a game-high five assists.

The Knights remain on the road as they kick off the second half of the conference season. They head to Spring Arbor University on Saturday for a 3 p.m. tip.
