INDIANAPOLIS - The 24th-ranked Marian University women's basketball team dropped a tough game to the Foresters of Huntington University at the Physical Education Center on Wednesday night.   This was the first loss for the Knights on their home court this season and drops them to 13-8 overall and 5-3 in MCC play.

Sophomore Rachel Kenney (Mooresville, Ind./Mooresville) led the Knights with a game-high 20 points, going 12-of-14 from the free throw line in just 16 minutes of playing time.  Three other Knights followed with double digits, while senior Molly Lauck (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) led the team with a game-high 12 rebounds.

Freshman Rachel Turk (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) made her presence known in the first half going 4-of-4 for 9 points, including a 3-pointer. Despite the effort, the half saw three lead changes until 5:02 to play when Huntington's Sarah Miller hit a jumper to put the Foresters ahead 27-25 and for the remainder of the game.  Huntington would also lead the Knights in second chance points with seven to Marian's zero in the half.

In the second half, a hard fought effort by the Knights would pull them to within two, "We had opportunities when we cut it down to two, but they were able to run it back up," said head coach Todd Bacon of their chances.  At the 15 minute mark, senior Kristin Houck (Brownsburg, Ind./Brownsburg) hit a lay-up, which sparked an 8-2 run by the Knights.  It was all Huntington after that, as they went 20-of-23 from the charity stripe over the last 12 minutes to secure the win.

"We were forced to play passively on defense because of foul trouble, and Huntington took advantage of that," remarked coach Bacon, "and we have to make our free throws at the end of the game."

The Knights outshot the Foresters in field goal percentage by shooting 57 percent (28-of-49), but turned the ball over a total of 27 times to the tune of 24 HU points.

The Knights are back in action Saturday against the Cougars of Spring Arbor University at the Physical Education Center.  Tip off is slated for 1pm.  Listen LIVE and follow LIVE STATISTICS at www.muknights.com.
