INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian University men's basketball team made the most of its bye week as the Knights defeated Kuyper College, 83-59, in non-conference action at the Physical Education Center on Friday night.
 
All nine Knights who played scored as they improved to 11-12 on the season and have now won two straight games for the first time since December 18 and 19.
 
Junior Jordan Tucker (Kirklin, Ind./Clinton Central) led four Knights in double figures with 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting. He also had four assists and four steals for the Knights.
 
Over the first 10:41 of the game the Cougars hung with the Knights as they only trailed by five, 15-10, with 9:19 remaining in the half. However, the Knights busted the game wide open over the next 2:29 with a 10-0 run that was capped off by a three-pointer by sophomore Alex Sylvester (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian).
 
The Knights came out running as they posted a 7-0 edge on the fast break in the first half. They also out-scored the Cougars by a 20-10 margin in the paint over the first 20 minutes.
 
The Cougars would get as close as nine at 46-37 with 14:10 remaining in the game. But, another 10-0 Knights run pushed the lead to 19 at 56-37 with 11:10 to go. The Knights would out-score the Cougars 27-22 over the final 11 minutes to pickup the 83-59 victory.
 
In addition to Tucker's 20 points, junior Anthony Furlin (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) tallied 19 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out five assists. Freshman Mac Fiely (Greenville, Ohio/Greenville) notched 11 points and three boards, while freshman Donnie Abrams (Sullivan, Ind./North Central) tallied 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting in his 11 minutes of action.
 
Junior Brandon Malone (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) dished out a season-high six assists and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
 
The Knights get back into conference play on Tuesday night when they play host to No. 9-ranked Bethel College at the Physical Education Center. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. and the game will air LIVE on XL 950AM (WXLW) with Brad Wochomurka (p-b-p) and Director of Athletics Joe Haklin (color) calling all the action.
