INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 23-ranked Marian University women's basketball team rebounded from a tough loss on Wednesday night with a win over Kuyper College, 93-31, on Friday at the Physical Education Center. The win improved the Knights' record to 16-10 on the season, as the Cougars fell to 5-13.
Freshman
Natalie Robinson (Wingate, Ind./Fountain Central) had yet another impressive showing for the Knights beyond-the-arc as she hit 3-of-8 from long range and finished with a game-high 19 points. She also went 4-of-4 from the line.
The Knights started off an impressive offensive showing with a 10-0 lead, but with 16:38 to go in the half Kuyper hit a pair of free throws to snap the run. MU would shoot 59 percent (20-of-34) from the field in the half and take the lead to high as 40. They also had a 20-12 advantage in rebounds and went into the locker room with a 50-12 lead.
MU continued its offensive surge in the second half as the Knights cruised to the 93-31 victory.
Four other Knights scored in double figures in the contest. Senior
Megan Egenolf (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) and freshmen
Rachel Turk (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) and
Whitley Emerson (Speedway, Ind./Speedway) each had 11 points. Sophomore
Brandi Joliff (Metamora, Ind./Franklin County) also had a game-high five assists and a game-high nine rebounds for the Knights.
Kuyper also had two players in double-digits with 10 points each.
