GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The 12-time collegiate national track cycling champion Marian University cycling team had one of its riders open the 2010 road season with a strong display in her home state.
 
Freshman Jackie Kurth (Palm City, Fla./Martin County) earned a pair of runner-up finishes at the 2010 Southeast Collegiate Cycling Conference races in Gainesville, Fla., over the weekend.
 
Kurth was the victor in the Category 1-4 women's competition, and earned a runner-up finish in the overall collegiate women's "A" time trial on Saturday. She was the runner-up and finishes just three seconds behind the victor with a time of 23:30.
 
In the women's "A" criterium, Kurth earned a second runner-up finish to secure the team's first strong showing of the 2010 season.
 
The Knights kick off the road season on February 27-28 when they head to Murray State University. The road race is on Saturday, February 27, while the criterium is on Sunday, February 28.
