ROME, Ga. - The Marian University men's golf team kicked off the 2010 spring season at the Rome News-Tribune Invitational hosted by Berry College on Monday and Tuesday.
After finishing day one in eighth position, the Knights closed the 36-hole event in 12th spot out of 17 teams in the highly competitive tournament.
The Knights shot a team total of 616, but, after finishing day one with a 297, MU shot a 319 on day two to fall four positions in the final team standings. John A. Logan Community College won the event with a 36-hole total of 574.
Freshman
Trey Pfund (Clarksville, Ind./Our Lady of Providence) led the Knights after he finished in a tie for 25th place after carding a 36-hole total of 149 (71-78). Freshman
Robbi Koors (Greensburg, Ind./Greensburg) finished in a tie for 41st place after he carded a 153 (75-78), while sophomore
Sean Jones (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) finished in a tie for 54th place with a 155 (74-81).
Senior
Luke Weber (North Vernon, Ind./Jennings County) finished in a tie for 70th place with a 159 (77-82), while sophomore
Preston Smith (Anderson, Ind./Anderson) earned an 82nd-place finish with a 162 (79-83).
Head coach
John Shelton and the Knights will return to Indianapolis for the NAIA Classic at the Brickyard on April 12 and 13.
