INDIANAPOLIS - Marian University head men's tennis coach Kris Looney is proud to announce the signing of three athletes to the three-time MCC Champion Knights program.
Tyler Douthitt, Michael Higdon, and Ryan Hodell will join the Knights next fall.
Douthitt , who will graduate from Scecina Memorial High School in Indianapolis, Ind., was named first team All-City in both the Coaches' and Indianapolis Star polls.
Higdon, who will graduate from Franklin Community High School this spring, was a three-sport athlete in high school, who also earned varsity letters in basketball and baseball. During his senior year on the tennis team he was awarded the Most Improved Player award and was named All-County, All-District, and honorable mention All-State in doubles. He was also first runner-up for the South All Star Team.
He was a member of the National Honor Society, a freshman mentor, and received the S.A.G.E Award.
Higdon will graduate with an honors diploma with plans to major in elementary education.
Hodell, who will graduate from Jasper High School in June, was a four-year recipient of the team Hustle Award, was a two-year All-Conference selection, and was named honorable mention Academic All-State.
He was also a member of the Business Professionals of America and was named to the honor roll all four years of high school.
Hodell will graduate with an academic honors diploma and plans to major in accounting.
Coach Looney now has four commitments for the 2010-11 season.
