Sophomore Alyson O'Conner put up a fight at No. 4 singles before succumbing on Thursday.
 
RENSSELAER, Ind. - The Marian University women's tennis team suffered a sweep at the hands of the St. Joseph's College Pumas, 9-0, on Thursday afternoon in Rensselaer, Ind.
 
The match, which was moved indoors to a three-court facility, had three matches contested in the normal scoring format, while the other three singles matches were eight-point pro-sets. The doubles format remained as the eight-point pro-set format.
 
Sophomore Alyson O'Conner put up the biggest fight at No. 4 singles as she fell in a first-set tiebreaker, 7-6, before falling in the second set, 6-2. Junior Dana Reynolds fell in straight sets at No. 1 singles, 1-6, 2-6, while freshman Tiffany Schendel fell at No. 2 singles, 3-6, 2-6.
 
Sophomore Maria Berry dropped her match at No. 3 singles, 2-8, while junior Alyssa Richard fell at No. 5 singles, 2-8. Freshman Casey DeLucenay fell at No. 6 singles, 3-8.
 
The Knights did push the Pumas in doubles as Reynolds and Schendel fell at No. 1, 4-8, and sophomore Samantha Jo Crump and freshman Amy Nocton  fell at No. 3, 5-8. Berry and O'Conner also fell at No. 2 by a 2-8 count.
 
MU heads to IUPUI for another spring season matchup on Tuesday afternoon. First serve is slated for 3 p.m.
