INDIANAPOLIS - Marian University head men's and women's bowling coach Chad Hardin is proud to announce the commitment of Lauren Gunderson for the inaugural season of Knights bowling.

Gunderson, who will graduate from Lawrence North High School this spring, was a member of two state qualifying teams and was an individual qualifier.

"I am excited to have Lauren join our team," said Hardin. "She had a tremendous senior year for bowling and I am looking for big things out of her in the future. Adding another left-handed bowler to our roster is a huge asset. Lauren is exactly the type of recruit we want in our program. She is a good bowler, a good student and a good person. We are thrilled to have her join our program."

The team's captain in 2008-09, Gunderson held a conference high average of 190.29 in 2009 and also in 2010 at 187.06. She was the 2010 Indianapolis North sectional champion and 2010 New Castle regional champion. She was a semi-state runner-up and earned eighth place at the state finals. She was named All-State first team this season and was an Academic All-State team member as well. She was the 2010 Bowler of the Year runner-up and is ranked first in her class.

A left-handed bowler, Gunderson was also named Central Indiana Bowling Centers Association All-City.

Gunderson joins a program on the rise as Coach Hardin has surpassed his goals for the inaugural season and is currently getting ready to begin competition this fall.
