ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Marian University men's golf team has put itself in position to make a run at the Malone University Spring Classic title after finishing in third place after the first day of competition at Tannenhauf Golf Club in Alliance, Ohio on Friday afternoon.
The Knights carded a 302 and sit six strokes back of leaders Davenport University (296) and five strokes back of host Malone (297) after 18 holes.
Senior
Luke Weber led the Knights in the first day of action after he notched an even-par 72 to sit in a tie for the top spot after 18 holes.
Sophomore
Preston Smith is also sitting in the top 10 after he carded a three-over-par 75 and is tied for ninth after the first day. Freshman
Robbi Koors is currently tied for 17th after he shot a five-over-par 77, while sophomore
Sean Jones sits in a tie for 21st after carding a 78. Freshman
Mac Fiely sits in a tie for 29th place after he carded a first round 80 for the Knights.
The tournament continues on Saturday at Tannenhauf Golf Club with the final 18 holes to begin at 9 a.m.
