NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Marian University men's track and field team traveled to Naperville, Ill., on Thursday to compete in the Dr. Keeler Track and Field Invitational at North Central College.

In day one action, senior Kyle Murray broke the Marian University record in the 5,000-meter run. He finished 14th of 99 runners, with a time of 14:51.92. Murray's time was good enough to hit the "A" standard qualifying mark for the upcoming NAIA National Track and Field Championships, which will be held in Marion, Ind., later this month.

The Knights only improved as the meet went on. On Friday night, senior Michael Foerster shattered his own Marian University record in the steeplechase. Forester finished fifth of 61 runners, with a time of 9:08.08. The time was the fifth fastest recorded over the past season in the NAIA.

Freshman Taylor Maxey finished 10th out of 27 runners in the 110 hurdles, recording a time of 15.19.

Murray, Forester, and Maxey are just three Knights that will compete in the NAIA National Championships beginning May 27-29.
