RAPID CITY, S.D. - The Marian University women's golf team remained in the top 15 of their first-ever national tournament as the Knights sit in 13th place after 54 holes at the 2010 NAIA Women's Golf National Championships on Thursday afternoon at Meadowbrook Municipal Golf Course in Rapid City, S.D.
 
The Knights shot a 325 on Thursday and dropped on spot from 12th to 13th after a solid round. The 325 is a school record for the Knights and the 72-hole total will also be a school record after Friday's round.
 
Senior Angela Gauck moved into the top 10 after she carded a five-over-par 77 on Thursday to give her a 54-hole total of 232 (76-79-77). She currently sits in a tie for eighth place with a seven-shot gap between her and the leader. Gauck played the first nine to one-over-par, but had trouble on her second nine holes to come back into the clubhouse with a 77.
 
Junior Lauren Nickoson continues to be a bright spot for the Knights. She sits tied for 20th place with a 54-hole total of 236 (78-79-79). Nickoson shot a third round 79 to give herself three consecutive rounds in the 70s.
 
Sophomore Kailey Jacob had another quick start as she went out with a one-over-par 37 for the second straight day. However, a nine-over-par back nine gave her a 10-over-par 82 as she sits tied for 64th place with a 54-hole total of 249 (87-80-82).
 
Freshman Leah Miller sits tied for 88th place after she carded an 87 to bring her 54-hole score to 260 (87-86-87), while senior Kristen Welker carded her third straight 89 to sit in a tie for 101st place with a 267 (89-89-89).
 
The Knights tee off at 8:20 a.m. MDT (10:20 a.m. EDT) in the final round of the 2010 NAIA Women's Golf National Championships. Welker tees at 8:20 (10:20), Miller tees off at 8:30 (10:30), Jacob tees at 8:40 (10:40), Nickoson tees off at 8:50 (10:50) and Gauck will finish out the Knights' first-ever team appearance at the national tournament at 9 a.m. (11 a.m.).
