MARION, Ind. - Five members of the Marian University men's and women's track and field squads are competing at the 2010 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships that takes place Thursday through Saturday in Marion, Ind.
 
Seniors Michael Foerster (steeple), Thomas Jeschke (steeple), Kyle Murray (5000), freshman Taylor Maxey (hurdles) and junior Derrelle Hankins (discus) are in Marion, Ind., representing the men's team, while sophomore Rachel Kenney (high jump) is competing as the lone women's team representative.
 
Foerster and Jeschke opened the competition for the Knights on Thursday afternoon as they ran in the 3000-meter steeplechase preliminaries. Foerster picked up a spot in the national finals after he ran a school-record 9:15.23 to qualify seventh. Jeschke struggled through the heat as he finished 34th with a time of 10:07.40.
 
Hankins, Murray and Maxey will compete on Friday as the discus will be contested in the field while the 5000-meter run and 110-meter hurdles preliminaries will also take place. Saturday will feature the 3000-meter steeplechase final, the 5000-meter run final, and the women's high jump.
