MARION, Ind. - Three Marian University men's track and field athletes were in competition at the 2010 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Marion, Ind., on Friday.
 
Freshman Taylor Maxey opened the competition on Friday for the Knights as he competed in the 110-meter hurdles. Maxey competed in the opening heat of the preliminaries and logged a time of 14.95 seconds to finish 19th in the country in his first-ever opportunity to compete at nationals.
 
Senior Kyle Murray, competing in his last national championship, turned in a 27th-place finish in the 5000-meter run with a time of 15:49.00.
 
Junior Derrelle Hankins picked up a top 20 finish in the discus throw. Hankins, competing in his first NAIA nationals championships, finished 18th in the nation with a throw of 43.51 meters.
 
The Knights have senior Michael Foerster competing on Saturday in the finals of the 3000-meter steeplechase, while sophomore Rachel Kenney will compete in the women's high jump at the IWU Outdoor Track and Field Complex in Marion, Ind.
