MARION, Ind. - The Marian University track and field squad closed out the 2009-10 season with two event finals being contested on the final day of the 2010 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships in Marion, Ind., on Saturday.

Sophomore Rachel Kenney, who is competing in her first season as a high jumper, just missed being named an NAIA All-American after earning a tie for seventh place in the high jump. She cleared 1.65 meters to match her school record and earn 1.5 points for the Knights, which placed them 55th out of 117 teams. It is also the first time the Knights have scored points in an outdoor national championship meet in school history.

In the other event final, senior Michael Foerster earned a ninth-place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase final on Saturday. Foerster, who reset his school record on Friday in preliminaries, ran a 9:20.47 to just miss out on earning a point for the Knights.

Foerster concluded a career that featured six NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors (two for cross country, two for men's soccer and two for track and field), a school record and several national qualifying times as well as numerous All-Conference honors.
