INDIANAPOLIS - Five members of the 2010 NAIA Unaffiliated Conference champion Marian University women's golf team were named Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes for the 2009-10 academic year.

Senior Angela Gauck headlines a crop of student-athletes who have not only shown their ability on the golf course, but in the classroom as well. Gauck earned her second Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete honor after another outstanding season. Gauck was the 2010 UAC medalist and Player of the Year and led the Knights to their first-ever appearance at the national tournament. She finished fourth in the nation, which was her fourth straight top 10 finish at the NAIA national championships.

Senior Ashley Reed also earned her second career academic honor, while juniors Colleen O'Connor, Alyssa Simpson and Cassie Freestone each earned the NAIA honor for the first time in their careers.

The Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete award is given to a student-athlete who has attained at least junior standing and has maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
