INDIANAPOLIS - Marian University head volleyball coach Dan Findley is proud to announce the sixth commitment for the 2010-11 season of Knights volleyball.
 
Morgan Merrill, who will graduate from Center Grove High School, committed to the Knights earlier this month and becomes the sixth player to commit to the Knights for the 2010 season.
 
"Morgan is not just an outstanding athlete, she is also a young lady with an amazing heart and incredible love for the sport of volleyball," said Findley. "Morgan has a high volleyball IQ and understands what it takes to be a champion. I believe Morgan will be an exceptional student-athlete at Marian University."
 
Merrill is a middle hitter/blocker who started for a Center Grove team that finished 34-3 and finished third in the state in 2009. She tallied 15 kills on 18 attempts and seven blocks in the regional title match against Avon to send the Trojans forward in the tournament.
 
Merrill was named the National Federation of State High School Association's 2009 Achievement Award winner given to a female athlete that has overcome significant personal obstacles to achieve athletic excellence, and she was also give the Big Heart award from CGHS that recognizes a female student-athlete who has overcome personal adversity to accomplish athletic excellence.
 
She is also gifted academically after earning Academic All-Conference honors and was named All-County honorable mention for her ability on the court.
 
Merrill is the sixth player to commit for the 2010 season. The Knights are coming off a season in which they tied the school record for wins with 29 and finished second in the Mid-Central College Conference.
