INDIANAPOLIS - Marian University head cycling coach Dean Peterson is proud to announce the commitment of
Allie Dragoo for the 2010-11 season after she recently completed a transfer to the 12-time collegiate track national champions and reigning collegiate road national champions.
"We feel with Allie's BMX skills she will blend in well on the track as a sprinter and in the 500," said head coach Dean Peterson. "Her feel for the dirt will translate to the mountain bike nationals and we expect her to continue to grow alongside our already strong female squad. We expect her to impact our already strong women's team and help expand our program as we look to become more accomplished across all disciplines as a team."
Dragoo, who transferred from Lindsey Wilson College, is an accomplished rider with a strong background on the track and in BMX racing.
A graduate of East Grand Rapids High School in Grand Rapids, Mich., Dragoo has competed in BMX for 13 years including two on the professional level. At age 17, she won the overall national championship in the National Bicycle League (NBL) Circuit with numerous wins in national-level competitions.
In addition to her cycling ability, Dragoo was also a two-time All-State honorable mention at East Grand Rapids High School in girls' golf.
Last season, she competed at Lindsey Wilson College and earned a fourth-place finish at the 2009 collegiate mountain bike national championships in Lake Tahoe. She also competed on the track and in all three races at the 2010 collegiate road national championships.
Dragoo is the daughter of Denise Durkee and David Dragoo, and she has two brothers.
