MARION, Ind. - After nearly one year of waiting, the Marian University women's soccer team pulled off the win it was looking for as the Knights defeated No. 9-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University, 1-0, at Wildcat Field in Marion, Ind., on Tuesday night.

The Knights defeated the Wildcats for the first time in the 11-year history of the program and improved to 12-0-1 on the season and are the lone unbeaten team in the Mid-Central College Conference at 4-0.

The team improved to 26-0-3 in the regular season over the last two years and are now 11-0-1 in the MCC during that time frame.

Sophomore Lauren Gerbick (Dyer, Ind./Andrean) struck with what proved to be the match-winner at the 47:35 mark to give the Knights the 1-0 win.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Fisher (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) continued her string of results as she made three key saves to preserve her ninth win and eighth shutout of the season. She has now conceded just one goal in 855 minutes of action.

IWU out-shot the Knights, 14-6, but the Knights put three of their six shots on frame and forced the IWU goalkeeper to make a pair of saves.

The Knights play host to Goshen College on Saturday at St.Vincent Health Field. The match will kick off at 5 p.m.
