TREXLERTOWN, Pa. - The Marian University cycling team won its 12th national championship at the 2009 USA Cycling Collegiate National Track Cycling Championships in Trexlertown, Pa., on Saturday.
 
Senior David Williams (Grand Rapids, Mich./Catholic Central) won the men's points race national championship, his second in this season's championship. He also earned the the men's individual omnium national championship as the nation's top collegiate rider.
 
Junior Alex Wieseler (Oconomowoc, Wis./Arrowhead) finished in seventh place, while sophomore Rob Bush (Louisville, Ky./Highlands Latin) finished in 11th position.
 
The men's team pursuit squad comprised Bush, Wieseler, Williams, and sophomore Adam Leibovitz (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) clinched the team's 12th national championship as rain spoiled the finals race. The Knights had the best time (3:31.1) through qualifications and were named winners.
 
Junior Anna Sklorenko (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard), senior Sierra Siebenlist (Indianola, Iowa/Indianola) and freshman Jackie Kurth (Palm City, Fla./Martin County) finished sixth, seventh, and eighth, respectively, in the women's sprint.
 
Kurth finished the championship as the third-best rider in the women's overall omnium standings.
 
The Knights have now won 12 national championships in 15 years, four straight, and the 2009 crown is the first title as Marian University.
