INDIANAPOLIS - The two-time defending Mid-Central College Conference champion Marian University women's soccer team opened the 2010 season on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over the alumni in the team's annual alumni match at St.Vincent Health Field.
Junior
Ashley Flewelling provided the spark for the Knights as she scored the first marker and assisted on the second. On the second goal, Flewelling touched a perfect ball to sophomore
Samantha Cook at the top of the 18-yard box. She cut right and in to the box and hit a bender into the upper left 90 to stake the Knights a 2-0 lead.
Sophomore
Nikki Schmidt finished off the scoring with a goal off a defensive miscue to give the Knights the 3-0 win.
The alumni team consisted of mostly recent graduates including 2010 graduates Priscila Brito and Jill Tonetti. Marian University women's soccer thanks the alumni for returning to play in the annual game.
