INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian University men's soccer team dropped its home opener to Robert Morris University 2-1 at St.Vincent Health Field on Wednesday evening. The loss dropped the Knights' record to 0-1-0 to start the 2010 campaign.

Junior Chase Brackin led the way for the Knights with their lone goal in the match.

The first half started slow for the Knights, as they only managed one shot off a free kick by junior Tyler Kitchen. Robert Morris managed a string of shots before converting on a penalty kick 15:47 into the match, to take the 1-0 lead. They added to their total at the 30:09 mark when an RMU midfielder flicked the ball on to the back post to find another RMU player, who found the back of the net from inside the six-yard box.

MU came out in the second half and took it to the Eagles from the start. Junior Fabricio Lemus had the Knights' first chance of the stanza with a shot that hit the inside of the post and was cleared out by RMU. Not long after, the Knights got a tremendous effort from sophomore forward Grant Brackin when he outran a defender, touched the ball past the goalkeeper, and narrowly missed the far post.

The momentum was with the Knights as Brackin found a loose ball in the box and back-heeled the ball past the Robert Morris keeper to put the Knights on the board in the 80th minute.

The Knights kept the pressure on for the remainder of the game, but couldn't come up with the equalizer and the Eagles went on to the 2-1 victory.

Junior James Dulhanty had six saves for the Knights in the net and six different Knights tallied a shot. Brackin led the way with one shot on goal for the lone goal.

Robert Morris had five yellow cards in the match-up and 19 fouls, to the Knights zero cards and eight fouls.
