ANGOLA, Ind. - The Marian University women's golf team opened the 2010-11 season over the weekend with a runner-up finish at the 2010 Trine University Fall Invitational at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind. Sophomore
Leah Miller earned medalist honors as the Knights carded a tournament-low round of 329, to match Saint Mary's College (Ind.), during the final round.
Miller, a sophomore, shot a 156 (78-78) to earn medalist honors for the first time in her career. Senior
Lauren Nickoson earned a runner-up finish after she carded a 161 (81-80), while junior
Kailey Jacob carded a 167 (86-81) to finish in a tie for sixth place.
Freshman
Molly Knight shot a 184 (94-90) to finish in 14th place, while freshman
Jordan Ahmay finished 19th with a 192 (96-96). Ahmay tallied her first career birdie for the Knights.
Sophomore
Kristen Hicks recovered on day two as she shaved seven strokes off her first round score to finish in a tie for 20th with a 193. Freshman
Brooke Reed finished in 25th with a 198.
The Knights head to the Hanover Invitational where they earned the tournament title last season. The tournament is on September 11 and 12 in Hanover, Ind.
