LONDON, Ky. - The 2010 Mid-Central College Conference champion Marian University men's golf team opened the 2010-11 season on Thursday with the first round of the Bill Sergent Invitational at Crooked Creek Golf Course in London, Ky.
The Knights sit in fourth place after 18 holes as they posted a 15-over-par 303. They sit behind leader Walters State Junior College (295), Lee University (Tenn.) 297, and the University of the Cumberlands (299).
Sophomore
Mac Fiely leads the Knights after he carded a first round 75. After opening with a four-over-par 40, Fiely finished the round with a one-under-par 35 on the back nine. He currently sits in 14th place.
Sophomore and 2010 NAIA All-American
Trey Pfund sits in 22nd place after he carded a first round 76. Pfund shot a three-over par 39 on the front before finished with a one-over-par 37 on the back nine.
Junior
Sean Jones also sits in 22nd place after a first round 76. Jones went out with a 40 before shooting an even-par 36 on the back nine. Junior
J.P. Hyden also shot a 76 and shot a 38 on both the front and back nine. Junior
Preston Smith closed out the Knights' lineup with a seven-over-par 79 to sit in 51st place.
