LONDON, Ky. - The Marian University men's golf team opened the 2010-11 season with a sixth-place finish at the 2010 Bill Sergent Invitational at Crooked Creek Golf Course in London, Ky. on Friday.
 
Sophomore Trey Pfund led the Knights with an 18th-place finish after he shat a second-round 74 for a 36-hole total of 150. Sophomore Mac Fiely carded a 78 on Friday to earn a 28th-place finish with a 153, while junior Preston Smith carded a three-over-par 75 to close with a 33rd-place finish and a 154.
 
Junior J.P. Hyden shot a 79 on Friday for a 155 to finish in 39th place, while junior Sean Jones struggled to an 82 on Friday for a 158 and a 54th-place finish.
 
The Knights will head to Meshingomesia Country Club in Marion, Ind., to take on Indiana Wesleyan University on Sept. 14 and 15.
