The No. 11 Knights will head to No. 8-ranked Ottawa University in their first trip to the postseason.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The No. 11-ranked Marian University football team will head to the No. 8-ranked Ottawa University Braves in Ottawa, Kan., in the opening round of the 2010 NAIA Football Championship Series, the national office announced on Sunday.
This will be the team's first trip to the state of Kansas.
The 9-2 Knights' first trip to the postseason sees them traveling to a 9-1 Ottawa squad that earned a runner-up finish in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference behind No. 6-ranked McPherson College. Ottawa is 5-0 at home this season.
Ottawa is ranked No. 8 in the NAIA in pass offense with 279.9 yards per game, while the Knights are ranked No. 6 in total pass offense (3040 yards) and 10th in pass offense with 276.4 yards per game. The Knights are ranked No. 11 in rush defense allowing 104.5 yards per game and are 12th in scoring defense per game after allowing an average of 16.8 points per game.
The Braves are ranked eighth in scoring offense with 43.1 points per game and are 10th in total scoring offense with 431 points. They are also 11th in total pass offense and 14th in total offense with 435.0 yards per game. They are also ranked 14th in rushing defense after allowing just 106.5 yards per game.
