CHARLESTON, Ill. - On day one of the EIU Big Blue Classic in Charleston, Ill., the Marian University women's track and field team turned in one top-10 performance, and day two saw three top-10 finishes.
The 4x800 meter relay team of senior Adrienne Shepherd and freshmen Lauren Borchelt, Lauren Hacker and Samantha Walsh had the highest placing on day one, at sixth, as they finished in a time of 10:33.23.

Sophomore Jacquelyn Dossey led the Knights' in the 400 meter hurdles as she finished in 1:21.13, which was good enough for 17th.

In the 5,000 meter run, freshman Staci Roberts and junior Laura Neuman finished 18th and 19th, respectively.

In the hammer throw, freshman Ciera Hughes earned MU's highest finish, at 27th, with a hurl of 30.84 meters. Freshman Kassandra Sprinkle finished just behind Hughes at 28th, while freshman Nicole Nesbitt and sophomore Erin Bateman came in at 29th and 31st.

On day two, junior Rachel Kenney picked up the highest place for MU of the weekend. Kenney finished third in the high jump, with a leap of 1.58 meters.

In the javelin, MU saw two top-10 performers. Sophomore Whitley Emerson placed fifth (30.77m), while sophomore Melanie McKevitt finished 10th (20.20m).

The Knights will travel to Marion, Ind., on Friday and Saturday to compete in the Indiana Little State meet.
