TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Marian University women's track and field team traveled to Terre Haute, Ind., Friday evening to compete in the Rose-Hulman Twilight where it placed fifth of 11 competing teams.
 
Junior Rachel Kenney and freshman Samantha Walsh each turned in a first-place finish for the Knights at the meet.
 
In the high jump, Kenney posted a mark of 1.57 meters for the top-spot. Senior Megan Egenolf and freshman Lauren Hacker also placed for the Knights in the event as they came in at fifth and seventh, respectively.
 
Walsh earned the victory in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 12:50.76.
 
In the field events, freshman Kassandra Sprinkle turned in a second-place finish in the shot put (11.43m), freshman Lauren Palmer finished fifth in the long jump (4.36m) and sophomore Whitley Emerson placed sixth in the javelin (28.14m).
 
On the track, senior Miriam Karwath posted a third-place finish in the 100 meter hurdles, with a time of 16.40.
 
Other top performances on the track were turned in by senior Adrienne Shepherd who placed fourth in the 1,500 meters (4:56.61) and fifth in the 800 meter run (2:25.06), and the 4x400 meter relay team of Shepherd, Egenolf, and sophomores Jaymee Schambers and Amy Walker finished in a time of 4:06.96, which was good enough for third-place.
 
MU returns to the track next Saturday as it travels to Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Ind., for the Pacesetter Invitational.
