WICKLIFFE, Ohio - The Marian University women's bowling team continued its strong start to the 2011-12 season with a runner-up finish at the American Heartland Conference Tournament II at Freeway Lanes in Wickliffe, Ohio last weekend.
The Knights varsity squad finished the tournament with 7,430 total pins for an eight-game average of 972.25 to finish behind Wright State University. The MU junior varsity squad turned in a runner-up finish in the JV division with 6,780 total pins and an eight-game average of 800.
Junior
Kayla Rhoades led the Knights with a fifth-place finish after she tallied 928 total pins for a five-game average of 185.6. She was also one of seven bowlers with a perfect 5-0 match play record. It is the second straight event in which she has finished in the top five.
Freshman
Amanda Klinger turned in a 27th-place finish with 855 total pins for a five-game average of 171. Sophomore
Shannon DeWitt finished with 546 total pins for a three-game average of 182, while freshman
Marissa Yadron finished with 543 total pins for a three-game average of 181. Sophomore
Elizabeth Bischoff finished with 494 total pins for a three-game average of 164.67, while sophomore
Alicia Simpson notched 461 total pins for a three-game average of 153.67. Sophomore
Lauren Gunderson tallied 287 pins in two games, while sophomore
Meghan Hardy hit for a 177 in her only game.
Freshman
Casara Terhune led the JV squad after she turned in a 22nd-place performance after she notched 866 total pins for a five-game average of 173.2. She went 3-2 in match play. Sophomore
Samantha Grimes finished in 29th place with 851 total pins and a 170.2 average, while sophomore Alex Hodson finished 33rd with 835 pins and a 167 average. Sophomore
Lanie Bledsoe finished 45th with 781 total pins and a 156.2 average, while sophomore
Kelli Marx finished with 405 total pins for a three-game average of 135. Freshman
Savannah Cauldwell tallied 304 total pins in two games for the JV squad.
The Knights will remain at Freeway Lanes for the American Heartland Conference Tournament III on Sunday.
