INDIANAPOLIS - For the first time in his career, junior Grant Brackin of the Marian University men's soccer team was named a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete for his efforts in the classroom.
 
Brackin, a midfielder from Indianapolis, Ind., played in all 17 matches for the 7-10 Knights this season. In 14 starts, Brackin tallied a goal and an assist, which included the match-winner in MU's first victory of the season over Lawrence Technological University.
 
Over the course of his career, Brackin has seen action in 55 matches for the Knights and has tallied three goals and eight assists.
 
To be eligible for this honor, the student-athlete must have achieved junior standing, maintained a 3.5 cumulative grade point average and have been nominated by the institution's head coach.
