HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Marian University men's basketball team earned its third straight victory and its first at the Merillat Complex since 1994 after the Knights earned a 74-65 win over Huntington University on Tuesday night in a crucial Mid-Central College Conference showdown.
 
The Knights improved to 15-7 overall and 6-5 in the MCC, while Huntington dropped to 13-10 overall and 5-6 in league play. The Knights snapped a 21-game losing streak at Huntington that dated back to February 18, 1995. The last time the Knights defeated Huntington on its own floor was on January 18, 1994 when the Knights won 70-59 at the Merillat Complex.
 
Junior Aaron Evans led a quartet of Knights in double figures with a game-high 22 points and added a team-high three assists. Senior Alex Sylvester, the reigning NAIA National Player of the Week, tallied 16 points, grabbed five rebounds, handed out two assists and had three steals for the Knights.
 
Senior Jake Sullivan matched his career high, which he set on Saturday, with 12 points and grabbed a team-high seven boards. Freshman Eric Harris added 10 points, while sophomore Jake Stafford added nine points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
 
The Knights carried a nine-point lead, 35-26, into the locker room, and withstood a Huntington comeback in which the Foresters took a one-point lead to hold off HU for the victory.
 
MU will return home on Saturday when the Knights host 17th-ranked Spring Arbor University (15-8; 6-5 MCC) at the Physical Education Center. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m. and the game will be video streamed LIVE at www.muknights.com.
