INDIANAPOLIS - Marian University head men's basketball coach
John Grimes will participate in the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers weekend on Saturday afternoon in the Knights' game with 17th-ranked Spring Arbor University at 3 p.m.
Coach Grimes, who is in his 36th season as head coach, will wear sneakers on the sideline to help raise money for the American Cancer Society. Marian University is asking its fans to come out on Saturday and give what they can, either a donation or just support for the cause, for the American Cancer Society.
"I believe this is a very worthwhile cause," said Grimes. "The Coaches vs. Cancer suits and sneakers weekend is a great event to raise money for cancer research. I invite all of our fans to the Physical Education Center on Saturday and give money for this very worthwhile cause."
Annually, the NAIA and NABC team up with the American Cancer Society to spotlight the fact that while cancer remains a major health concern, everyone can take daily steps to reduce their risk of the disease. Coaches vs. Cancer participants have raised more than $70 million since 1993 to help the Society fund groundbreaking research, provide up-to-date cancer information and education, advocate for public health policies that benefit communities, and deliver services that improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
