MIDWAY, Ky. - The Marian University softball team improved to 25-8 on the season after 6-0 and 9-0 (5) wins in a road doubleheader sweep on Tuesday afternoon at Midway College in Midway, Ky.
Junior righthander
Emily Gwaltney led the Knights in the opener after she earned a one-hit, complete game victory to improve to 12-3 on the season. She struck out six as she earned her 11th complete game of the season and her fifth shutout of the campaign.
She also provided the offense with two RBIs, while sophomore
Michelle Marcum added two RBIs. Senior
Emily Pusti finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored, while freshman
Chelsey Hartman went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
The nightcap saw junior
Amy Tamer dominate in the circle after she threw four innings in a 9-0 mercy rule victory in five innings. She allowed just two hits and struck out two to improve to 9-3 on the year.
On offense, senior
Kelsey Uebelhor went 2-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored, while Hartman went 2-for-2 with two runs scored. Junior
Helen Rogers went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and her seventh home run of the season, while Gwaltney, sophomore
Taylor Roach and sophomore
Margo Wells each drove in a run.
