MISHAWAKA, Ind. - The Marian University men's tennis team posted a 9-0 shutout victory over Bethel College on Tuesday afternoon in Mishawaka, Ind.

The Knights improved to 2-1 on the season and 2-1 in the Crossroads League, while the Pilots fell to 0-4 on the year and 0-3 in conference play.

The match opened with doubles and the Knights blew through the doubles competition losing just four points. Junior Nicholas Batuello and freshman Jason Denton earned an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles to open the match. Sophomore Mitchell Trammel and junior Tyler Scanlan earned an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles, while seniors Andrew Voss and Will Dixon completed the sweep with an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles.

The singles competition saw the Knights earn straight-sets wins at all six positions. Trammel was the first to come off with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles. Denton followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles, and freshman Ryan Heuer came off with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles. Voss earned a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles before Scanlan won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. Freshman Jack Hiatt completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.

The Knights will return home on Friday when they host Georgetown College (Ky.) at the MU Tennis Courts. First serve is slated for 1 p.m.
